Born in British Columbia, Carol grew up in Alberta. She gained recognition for her art from a young age, winning several art contests as a child. Her commission work also began as a teen. She has spent a number of years studying still life drawing, life drawing, colour theory, and life painting, with Xin Yu Zheng, a highly regarded master artist, classically trained in pre-revolution China.
She is married with a young daughter, who like many artists, she often uses as a model for her paintings. When painting children she works from photos. With adults she has moved to painting live models, sometimes in combination with photos.
She is attracted to the movement of light, and the spirit of her subjects. She uses paint, value, colour, and brushstrokes in an attempt to reveal their beauty.
She will be attending a workshop with Daniel Gerhartz in May, 2012.
She is a member of the Oil Painters of America.
